  5. hi, many fangirls are going to hate me 4 this, but i have to say it anyway. Personally, i feel Arashi is just a typical boyband which CANNOT compare to the best like TVXQ under ALL circumstances. They are below average in dancing and singing as compared to the other Johnhy’s, yet the only reason they can still maintain a hint of popularity is thru their sweet, boyish looks. Which many of my girlfriends find disgusting.

    Just because you have this warning doesn’t mean that you’re going to be spared from criticisms about your post. You had this coming when you posted in an Arashi page.

    “Typical boybands” don’t set records in record sales. They don’t appeal to listeners all over the world. They don’t appeal to a wide range of listeners in terms of age. They don’t consistently hold sold out concerts. What’s so *typical* about Arashi, then?

    Crazy Moon, Truth, and Believe are just SOME of the PVs that show off their dancing skills. How many songs have you heard? Ohno, Nino, and Sho have amazing voices. Aiba and Jun provide complements to their bandmates for a nice overall feel. For their genre, Arashi does exactly what it needs to do – provide songs that entertain the masses.

    I’ll give you that sweet, boyish looks is AN appeal… but which band doesn’t appeal with the looks department? Hell, Jae Joong is one of the prettiest boys I’ve ever seen! If it were only about *being cute and sweet* Arashi could never achieve their status as one of Japan’s best selling artists of all time.

    And we all know that none of your girlfriends ever listen to a group just because its members look good, right? [/sarcasm]

    No. It’s a combination of both. As shallow as this may seem, it’s probably true for the majority of the population: NOT MANY UGLY SINGERS MAKE IT BIG. Similarly, NOT MANY TALENTLESS HOT PEOPLE LAST VERY LONG IN THE INDUSTRY. Obviously to have some sort of longevity in the business means something about you or your group appeals to the masses. It could be their variety shows, their dramas, their PERSONALITIES. You underestimate Arashi. They’re not like other boybands that appeal solely through their music and to judge them as such shows just how little you know about the group you find so *typical*.
